A Wet Dress and a Broken Heart

2006 · 06 · 26

There was light sprinkling when EJ and I left for the gym, however the rain got a littel heavier before we had arrived. Once there, the Air Conditioning was enough to give her a little shiver. So we took her dress off and the nursery lady, Ms Leigh rigged a little tee shirt outfit for her.

I skipped yoga in favor of the Australia-Italy match. I ran on the tread mill and watched, and then hit some machines during half time and ran again during the rest of the match.

I thought we were going to have a good chance when one of the Italians got sent off the field five minutes into the second half – however the Socceroos just were unable to capitalize and then in the final minute of injury time ( see in football, when some one gets hurt the clock does not stop, the ref just adds some time to the end of the match) Italy was awarded a penalty kick.

Totti drained it into the back of the onion bag and with it my hopes, Australia’s hopes of become a Cinderella story for the ages. Alas, EJ is too young to understand, she was happy to have a warm dress from the dryer and bubbles to chase around the nursery.

At least there was no rain on the way home.
