Wears you out
House on Red Corner · 2007-03-23
yesterday the monitor for our ‘telly’ died. ej stayed at home with me in the morning and made sure that the house got really messy. then she went down for a nap around eleven which was pretty much about the time i was ready to go looking for a placement monitor. so i just looked at stuff on the internet for a while and then we ej woke we got our act together and headed out the door.
it was a big experiment. we went to manhattan without a stroller.
ej walked to the train station and stayed with me on the platform. we even watch a couple trains with the wrong letter on them go by. then our train arrived and we got on.
ej practiced being a straphanger and stood holding one of the handle poles for most of the trip. the rest of the time it was perched in my lap. the crowds of people in the station which we had arrived were overwhelming and scary to a two year old who was being asked to walk under her own power. so daddy carried her up to the street.
after a hour of walking around circuit city and virgin megastore, our little bug was ready to tackle the streets of new york.we eventually ended up in washington square park were she played in the playground for ages. finally, we ended our trip at a diner sharing aplate of fries, before taking the train back home (she sat in my lap the whole way home.)
we are so lucky.
