TheBubster has started school here in NYC. After a couple months of Kindergarten in Florida, she is well prepared for classes up here. She has been accepted at PS. 47, The ASL and English School and she really has adapted very quickly to it. Since it is a Reggio Emilia school, she is quite at home with this; her Preschool in Cambridge used this approach.
She is generally excited about the sign language that half her class and one of her teachers uses. We are doing extra work together at home in order to learn as much as we can. This will help her fit in with the class better and become more accepting of the children in her class who are hearing impaired. At the moment, she is confused by them and the speed at which they sign and this causes her to say she doesn’t like them. I am confident that as she learns more signs this attitude will shift and she will find herself having lots of friends who all are different and brilliant in their own right.
LittleBud is spending his days with me at home while I begin working on kick-starting a graphics arts career. Currently he enjoys playing with the toys without any distractions and eating; lots of eating! We will be preparing for a big move the rest of this month, well not really a big move, just a couple of blocks, but that is something which I am quite confident can be handled with ease.
