*[photo — not archived by Wayback]*Over the course of the last two days, I managed to achieve moderate success at building assembling bunk beds from IKEA. Now the kids’ mattresses are off the floor and no longer take up the entire floor. This allowed me to move furniture about and put their desk; which i scored off the street in the Lower East Side; on the opposite wall. This, in turn, allowed me to organize their stuff. FInally! Now toys have places to go!

I have yet to tackle the clothes problem as there is a bag of laundry at the laundromat still, but that will come another day. Perhaps tomorrow.

Sheesh. We’ve been in this place nearly a month and I am just starting to get the feeling that we live here.

One of the things I did to the kids’ room was put the cardboard box that the beds arrived in up on the wall over the desk. Then I started sticking pictures, paintings and greeting cards that they have received lately up there. Tonight, I told TheBubster that we’ll leave the cardboard all year and just keep adding things to it like a long, slow collage of memories. She loved that idea!

Well, enough out of me for now, have some reading to go do and some tea to go drink, while I try to relax knowing that the kids are asleep in their own beds, for now. LittleBud is going to give me a bit of a battle over learning to fall asleep in his own bed, but I am prepared for that now.
