The Appeal

A story fabricated itself as I created this image. My daughter had lots of questions about what was happening, so I had to tell it in mythological terms. This strategy worked pretty well for the last painting, and seems to have been successful with this one as well. The story goes like this.
A man, who is a member of the Bleeding Hearts Army, has been wronged by his lover and is in pain. He has sought Aphrodite, the Goddess of Passionate Love, and appealed to her to release him from his bondage. She is listening to his plea and taking the matter into consideration.
My daughter then injected into the story, that it is possible the Aphrodite will release him and then maybe she will fall in love with the man and he will fall in love with Aphrodite.
Possibilities are abundant when the power of imagination is allowed to project into the complex patterns which define the image of life. Therefore, the man, who is bleeding, does not look like he has been harmed and Aphrodite who looks like she is interested but at the same time is not concerned. She as an immortal must have some knowledge of the possibilities and can see that the path the man is on will lead to places which he could never have chosen on his own. Plus she's probably more upset that someone will know that she has split ends.
