The Lobbyist

For the past couple of weeks, my daughter has been very actively lobbying me for permission to get her hair colored like Rogue from the X-men. So this week, I relented and did it at home. No sooner was the bleach washed out of her hair, did her lobbying shift to getting me to paint her portrait.
Once my easel had space on it for a new project, I was able to actually paint this picture. I was actually very happy to have her make this request. It gave me such a feeling of joy and confidence that this beautiful creature wanted me to capture her essence with my skills and tools. While I was working on this yesterday I actually cried. I had to take a break because I was unable to see anything for at least ten minutes. Once I was able to see again, the effort became so joyful that I was able to pass my day applying strokes of paint.
