Ocularpation 2011: Wall St
2011 · 08 · 06
This past Monday, I was honored to be included in a performance art piece conceived by my friend Zefrey Throwell. The mechanics of the performance were simply to mimic the demographics of Wall St, remove our clothing and then put it back on. 50 performers participated in this, 3 of whom were arrested by NYPD. One of the arrested performers is a good friend of mine, Eric Clinton Anderson. A photo taken by another of our friends, Mike Kingsbaker, was featured in the NYPost. There was a great deal of media attention which resulted from this performance piece, which was part of the intention as the message was about a dire need for greater transparency in the workings of the financial industry famously situated there. I was even interviewed by my hometown newspaper! This was a thrill I had not expected.
In the days following this performance, I turned my brushes to this experience and have reimaged Mike's photo of Eric.
