the difference

so, so, so there’s a morning
its different in two different
brains or minds or bodies
one which has conserved its fun
finding the source of amusements
in simple matters
children’s laughter, tucking families into bed
and holding a wife
the other fun set is loud bars
parties and pursuits of teenage passions
the morning leaves one clear and happy
the other suffering and wondering how
or when it will all stop.
the drunkard moans about a head
the sober man approaches the day
clarity of vision and grateful
to be on the path he is on.
