trapped

never escaping the enemy
every step of the way
hounding, chasing, waiting
that weak moment
attention lapses
due to fatigue, hunger
lonely anger
the trap is sprung
minor wound, shaken off
ignored due to its relative damage
these cumulate and develop
several festering sores
which change alter divert
courses away from intentions
until the confusion is consuming
direction is lost and feet sink
quagmire of muck
struggle to overcome
expedites the sinking feeling
doom is near and the wish
for death to appear
a cold embrace
then and there
the realization occurs
once again my enemy
shows his face
trapped in the mirror
